Dr. Michael Loughner is a board-certified endocrinologist and treats patients encompassing all aspects of endocrinology. He has a specific clinical interest in the management of thyroid disease and thyroid cancer. His interest in thyroid disease was fostered during his fellowship training at the University of Colorado Hospital, when he performed research in the field of thyroid cancer and subclinical thyroid disease, and won a national award for his work in thyroid cancer research. Throughout his training, Dr. Loughner worked intimately with and learned extensively from international leaders in the fields of thyroid disease and thyroid cancer.
Dr. Loughner is one of the founding physicians of Endocrinology Specialists of Colorado, LLC. He is a member of several national organizations, including the American Thyroid Association, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and The Endocrine Society. He is also a member of the Colorado Medical Society and Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert Medical Society.
Dr. Loughner hails from Burlington, Vermont, but has lived in Colorado since 2003. He attended the Pennsylvania State University, where he received his Bachelors of Science in Pre-Medicine. He then earned his Medical Doctorate degree from the Chicago Medical School. Dr. Loughner relocated to Denver for his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and remained at the University of Colorado to complete his subspecialty fellowship training in Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes.
Dr. Loughner, along with his wife and three children, love living in Denver and spending lots of time in the beautiful Colorado outdoors.
